On a snowy Sunday morning, January 18, something powerful took place in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
Through the ULA Network Vets 4 Vets Community Construction Project — a NYC Department of Veterans’ Services Joseph P. Dwyer Initiative — volunteers came together with one shared belief: veterans should never stand alone. With support from the Plumbers Local 1 Women’s Committee and The Mission Continues, the team completed plumbing remediation and minor repairs at VFW Post 7096.
Thank you to Somaira Serrano, Olivia Walsh, and Chris for donating their time and union skill on a cold winter morning — a true example of solidarity in action. We’re also grateful to Bruce Archer of The Mission Continues, Donald Flanagan Jr., Army Veteran and Quartermaster of Post 7096, Nkosa Barrett of Plumbers Local 1, and Artie Neri of IBEW Local 3 Veterans Club for helping bring this effort together.
This marks the beginning of continued support for VFWs and American Legions across New York — proof that when union labor, community partners, and veterans unite, real impact follows.
