For more than four decades, Carl Pecoraro has dedicated his life to improving the lives of working families.
A proud Teamster from Cleveland, Ohio, Carl spent over 40 years serving the labor movement — including 20 years as Principal Officer of Teamsters Local 507. Today, even in retirement, his commitment continues as Chairman of the Cleveland Bakers & Teamsters Benefit Funds, where he helps safeguard the health, financial security, and future of union members and retirees.
Carl’s journey began on the warehouse floor — but it didn’t take long for him to discover his calling.
Within months of becoming a Teamster, he was already involved in union activities and community engagement. Soon after, he stepped into the role of organizer — driven by a deep desire to help others achieve:
From that point forward, advocacy became his life’s work.
Throughout his career, Carl worked across every level of union leadership with a singular focus: ensuring that members and their families had access to meaningful benefits and long-term security.
His work extended beyond contract negotiations.
It meant:
✔ Preserving affordable healthcare for retirees
✔ Strengthening pension protections
✔ Managing benefit costs responsibly
✔ Ensuring more resources flow back into workers’ wages
✔ Protecting jobs and creating new opportunities
For Carl, being a Teamster has always been about collective strength — the power of workers coming together not only to negotiate contracts, but to build stability for generations.
Carl believes many people see unions only through the lens of dues or contracts — but the reality runs much deeper.
Union membership, he explains, is about:
Through initiatives supporting organizations like the March of Dimes and partnerships with trusted labor-aligned service providers, Carl has helped connect members to solutions that improve lives both on and off the job.
Today, Carl finds his greatest gratification in mentorship and education.
He continues to work alongside labor leaders, benefit trustees, and healthcare innovators who are committed to modernizing how unions support members — particularly in navigating the growing challenges of healthcare affordability and retirement security.
He recognizes the importance of platforms like the ULA Network in helping workers better understand:

Carl remains optimistic about the future.
As economic uncertainty and rising healthcare costs continue to impact working families, he believes more people are recognizing the importance of unions in providing stability and protection.
With leadership in place that understands today’s challenges, Carl sees the Teamsters — and the broader labor movement — positioned to:
Reflecting on his career, Carl points not to titles — but to people.
The relationships built, the lives improved, and the security provided to countless families remain his proudest achievements.
Even after retirement, his work continues — because for Carl Pecoraro, being a Teamster was never just a job.
It was — and still is — a lifelong mission to serve.
