Our Mission

The Vets4Vets Community Construction Project mobilizes union-trained veterans and apprentices to support fellow veterans through hands-on construction, remediation, and community rebuilding.

We bring veterans together—on the jobsite and beyond—to restore VFWs, American Legion posts, and veteran homes, while strengthening peer-to-peer support, purpose, and connection during the transition to civilian life.

This initiative proudly aligns with the Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support Program, reinforcing the belief that veterans supporting veterans is one of the most powerful tools for healing, reintegration, and long-term success.

What We Do

We connect veteran union members, apprentices, and skilled tradespeople with meaningful service projects that deliver real impact:

  • Remediate VFWs, American Legion posts and minor repairs for veteran homes
  • Deploy skilled union labor across carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, and more
  • Create peer-to-peer veteran teams that build trust, purpose, and camaraderie
  • Showcase the power of union labor as a driver of community development and veteran support

Every project improves a physical space—and strengthens the lives of the veterans behind it.

Why It Matters

For many veterans, the transition out of military service can feel isolating. Vets4Vets replaces isolation with connection, teamwork, and mission-driven work.

  • Veterans regain purpose through service
  • Apprentices gain hands-on experience and mentorship
  • Communities receive tangible improvements

This is workforce development, community service, and veteran wellness—working together.

Building for the Long Term

We connect veteran union members, apprentices, and skilled tradespeople with meaningful service projects that deliver real impact Vets4Vets is designed to grow and scale:

  • Establishing recurring union and sponsor partnerships

  • Expanding across NYC, Long Island, and beyond

  • Creating a national model for veteran-led community construction

  • Integrating service and peer support into apprenticeship culture

This is not a one-day project—it’s a sustainable movement.
