Thank you Local 282 Members Christina Jackson-James and her father, retired 282 Teamster Donald Jackson. Donald Jackson, Christina‘s father started working at Local 282 signatory employer Guy Pratt way back in 1965. Always a Gentleman, Donald was a consummate professional throughout his entire career.
Donald retired after 37 years of service and as the Loyal Teamster Local 282 Shop Steward. We thank Don for his service to the Union and its members. 33 years after her Dad started his 282 career, Christina started her career in 1998. Following in her father's footsteps, like many 282’ers do, Christina also began at Guy Pratt. There, Christina also drove dump trucks, trailers, as well as flowboys.
Christina currently works at Local 282 signatory Banker Construction where she brings her many years of experience driving dump and flow boy trailers.
We thank both Christina and Donald for sharing their stories, experiences, and insights with us and all of you. This would not have been possible without the support of Teamsters Local 282 who was proud to introduce us to their incredible members.
The message is clear from both Christina & Donald…if you have a choice, definitely GO UNION!
We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Long Island Federation of Labor for providing their office space to record this interview.
